Editor’s Report - July 2026
As we move deeper into winter, it is pleasing to see that the enthusiasm of our members remains undiminished. While the colder weather may encourage our cherished Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars to spend a little more time tucked away in their garages, there are still many opportunities ahead to enjoy the companionship that makes our Club so special.
Recent news from the marque headquarters continues to demonstrate that both Rolls-Royce and Bentley remain committed to innovation while honouring their rich heritage. Rolls-Royce has unveiled the new Spectre Series II, further refining its landmark electric motor car with increased range, enhanced performance and additional bespoke craftsmanship options. Additionally, Rolls-Royce recently paid tribute to Sir Ralph Robins, whose leadership played a pivotal role in securing the future of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and establishing its home at Goodwood.
Meanwhile, Bentley continues its journey towards an electrified future while maintaining the exceptional standards of craftsmanship for which the marque is renowned. Despite challenging global market conditions, Bentley remains focused on future product development and the launch of its first fully electric model in the coming years, ensuring the marque remains relevant for future generations of enthusiasts.
Closer to home, I would encourage all members to check their membership status and ensure that subscriptions are renewed promptly. Membership fees are now due, and your continued support is vital in allowing the Club to maintain its excellent programme of events, publications and member services. The strength of RROCA Victoria has always been its members, and your renewal helps ensure the ongoing preservation and enjoyment of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley marques in Victoria.
Like many around the world, we are also watching developments in the Middle East with concern. While the conflict may seem distant, its effects are already being felt globally through uncertainty in energy markets, supply chains and transportation costs. For enthusiasts of historic motor vehicles, fluctuations in fuel prices and broader economic conditions can influence our hobby in various ways. Nevertheless, history has shown that our Club and its members remain resilient through challenging times, and it is important that we continue to support one another and enjoy the fellowship that our shared passion provides.
As always, thank you to our volunteers, event organisers, committee members and contributors who work tirelessly behind the scenes. I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming Club events over the coming months.
