Editor’s Report - June 2026

Winter is now well and truly upon us after one of the most pleasant autumns that I recall, yet despite the current challenges surrounding fuel and oil shortages, it has been pleasing to see such strong support for recent Branch activities and events. Over the past month we have enjoyed several successful gatherings, and it is encouraging to witness members continuing to make the effort to bring their cars out, attend meetings, and support the camaraderie that makes our Club so special.

While the cooler months traditionally see some slowing of motoring activities, there is certainly no shortage of events and opportunities ahead over the coming months. I encourage members to look carefully through this Newsletter and mark upcoming dates in their diaries. In particular, I would strongly encourage consideration of attending the upcoming Federal Rally, proudly hosted by our Victorian Branch. Considerable work has gone into the organisation of this event, and it promises to be a wonderful gathering of members and motor cars from across the country. Full details appear elsewhere in this edition.

Sadly, this month we also acknowledge the passing of Geoffrey Down. Geoffrey was, in every sense, a true historian of the marque. I always found walking around a Concours event with Geoffrey to be a rare and memorable experience; his depth of knowledge, attention to detail, and recollection of individual cars and their histories was extraordinary. He represented a wealth of experience that few could match, and his contribution to the Club and preservation of marque history will long be remembered. On behalf of the Branch, we extend sincere condolences to Geoffrey’s family and friends.
