Editor’s Report - February 2023
Wishing all our members a very Happy New Year and great motoring in your PMC in 2023, fast approaching is the Federal Rally in the beautiful environs of South Australia’s Hahndorf. It’s not too late to register and join the festivities of the Rally. There will be opportunities to join fellow members travelling to Hahndorf.
At the beginning of each year we all make a new year’s resolution, we all start with an intention to do something, the trouble is keeping this intent moving throughout the year. I suggest we all have an intention to do something special with our favourite PMC, a lot of our cars are ageing and need checks on rubber components, bushes, body mounts and hoses. Our Technical sessions will deal with some of these areas on cars like Spirits Shadows and Bentley Turbos. Noel Baker has organised a session on February 6th and well worth putting in your diary.
The economy worldwide is starting to show signs of stress, interestingly in the USA they are already struggling on the retail front with major retailers suffering with declining sales, fuel price hikes, new car sales plummeting to the extent where new cars are going to auction rather than sit on a dealer’s stock, interest rates are starting to bite hard. Unfortunately, parts availability is starting to suffer as well so make sure you do regular checks and don’t put off replacing items that need replacing.
However the luxury car market is still delivering record sales with Rolls-Royce having a record year with sales 6,021 up 8% on 2022 and if you want a Spectre you may have to wait. Bentley also delivered 15,174 an increase of 4% of delivered cars in 2022. So, some good news to finish this Editorial looking forward to seeing you at upcoming events in 2023.
