Editor’s Report - May 2024

Many of us are about to embark on a trip to Noosa for the Federal Rally, some will drive their PMC’s, others will drive a more reliable vehicle and others will fly and hire a car once there, the lucky few will pick up their PMC from a transport company in Brisbane. It doesn’t matter how you get to Noosa but it’s the sheer fact that you made the effort to be there. We are doing the overland trip organised by Noel Baker, we will travel with the South Australian group, thanks Noel for your efforts, much appreciated.

Looking at our recent activities we have been provided with great visits and talks that are relevant to our interest in maintenance and restoration of our special vehicles there are some great runs and talks coming up and reviewing the Diary and planning ahead is well worthwhile.

As an aside I have been looking at what makes a Car Club successful, and it is interesting to see the common topics:

  1. Members who are willing to share knowledge and experiences.

  2. Outings where you meet others with their cars, issues discussed over a coffee, most of all a run in your car which it regularly deserves, don’t leave it parked up!

  3. Communication, Newsletters and Website and Meetings

  4. Technical sessions where knowledge is shared.

  5. A passionate committee.

  6. Expanding Membership, so many people just enjoy their car at home or beach outings, then they join a club and comment why didn’t I do this sooner.

  7. Lastly HAVING FUN!

If you know of someone who is sitting on the sideline but not enjoying their PMC encourage them to join!
