Editor’s Report - June 2024

The year is fast moving into winter conditions and many of us will be thinking of laying up our cars but there are plenty of exciting events coming up where you can still enjoy a run in your PMC. As you all know one of my pet topics relates to EV batteries, there is now an unending series of claims relating to new technology, ability to charge faster, longer distance per charge, longevity and of course ultimately cost reduction! I still advocate wait and see, but don’t delay buying a Spectre!

New Technologies:

• Solid-state batteries

• Lithium-sulphur batteries

• Cobalt-free lithium-ion batteries

• Sodium-ion batteries

• Iron-air batteries

• Zinc-based batteries

• Graphene batteries

You will also note that many EV’s are having price reductions, Tesla dropped the price in Australia this week, Model Y has reduced $9500 in two months and the Model 3 $4000 in rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Here is an interesting chart to show market position, it is a little out of date but shows a real trend!

However, whatever happens enjoy driving your pride and joy, no matter what anyone says there is no better feeling than driving a marque that has provenance! Happy Motoring… (in your PMC)
