President’s Report - June 2024
The highlight for the merry month of May was of course the recent Federal Rally held in Noosa Heads, where the pristine beaches, vibrant culinary scene, and lush national parks intersect with so many Victorians you would think you were in tropical Armadale or South Yarra!
The event was a resounding success, bringing together over 200 Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts from across the nation. Our shared passion for these timeless automobiles was on display in the scenic drives, wonderful parades of automotive excellence, the delightful dinners and the spirited camaraderie that defined the rally. Congratulations to rally director Frank Carroll and his team and to the Queensland Branch.
Our Victorian Branch was well represented at the Rally with many members taking part in the overlander up and back to Queensland, ploughing on through the torrential rain that seemed to be never ending. As we have come to expect, the standard of cars presented at the Federal Concours was superb and congratulations to Victorian Member, Larry Picker, who with his exquisit recently retrimmed Silver Shadow won the Trophy for best in class. Congratulations also to Rodd Levy who was this year’s winner of the Sir Henry Royce Foundation photograph competition with his marvellous photograph taken at our Christmas Picnic and to Larry Picker who was highly commended for his photograph taken on our Tasmanian run. For those who were unable to attend the rally, I am pleased to hear that the May general meeting was thoroughly enjoyed by all and our Sunday run to Beeac was a resounding success!
We have some great events for you in June, commencing with our Technical Section on Sunday June 2. Our general meeting is dedicated to Ladies and Partners at which we will be featuring two of our more recent lady members and their magnificent cars. Come along for a great evening. Finally, on Saturday June 15 we have an early morning run curated by our Vice President, Keith Mortimer.
It has been brought to my attention that some of our members may have been missing our email communications regarding upcoming events and sometimes are unable to ascertain details for meetings and events from the newsletter or website. Remember that you can always contact our Membership Services Secretary, Stephen Peoples, who will be more than happy to assist you with the details for meetings and events.
