President’s Report - August 2023

It was really pleasing to see so many members out for our July general meeting, including some faces not seen for a while. Dedicated to the Bentley Mark VI, Bentley R Type and Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn model series, members enjoyed a very informative and entertaining evening presented by Greg Johnson and Terry Harris who also brought along their own cars, undoubtedly two of the very best exemplars of the Bentley Mark VI available anywhere. Our joint mid-week run with the BDC to Zagame Autobody in Tullamarine and lunch at the wonderful Keilor Hotel attracted around 60 people and proved to be a very informative and enjoyable day.

This month we are looking forward to a technical section with a twist – bring your other (interesting) car. We are looking forward to another noteworthy general meeting with one of our newer members, Duncan Cambell-Wright, who will be talking to us about his long term attraction and expertise with the Volvo marque. He will bring along one of his own cars from his extensive Volvo collection – another meeting not to be missed. Our Sunday run this month is dedicated to our partners and we are encouraging members to bring their partners along and even consider moving over into the passenger seat and be chauffeured for a change. A lovely run through the Dandenong Ranges and lunch at the Pine Grove Hotel awaits.

As we approach our AGM, I would like to direct your attention to the notices that are going out with this newsletter regarding nominations for committee and other office bearers, the Treasurer’s Annual Report and a few proposed changes to the wording of our constitution.

I would like to inform you of an exciting new initiative. Your committee is proposing we purchase and set up audiovisual equipment to allow us to live-stream our club meetings. This will provide access for members to attend meetings remotely from the comfort of their own homes when unable to attend in person, such as being located at a distance or for those are unable to physically attend BAH. More on this shortly, as we will be seeking to raise some funds to enable this innovation to go ahead.

Happy motoring!
