President’s Report - February 2025
Greetings everyone
Firstly, can I say a big thank you to those members who supported our first two events for the year.
Our January picnic meeting at Iron Bark station was enjoyed by many and was just right. The casual atmosphere and hospitality of Darren and Angie combine with conversation, company and cars was just perfect.
Cruden Farm played host to the AOMC Festival of Motoring and this time it got the weather right. We had a wonderful selection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars present (three rows in fact) from 20HP to contemporary Bentley GT’s. Our club display attracted a lot of interest and enhanced what was an extensive and diverse range of classic vehicles. Those in attendance had a very enjoyable day.
As I stated in my first President's report I am keen to have members involved in all aspects of club life. We, your committee, are a small cross section of our membership and welcome your ideas and input. To this end,
Wayne Spittle, our illustrious editor would welcome articles of interest and pictures for publication in our newsletter. If you have read a good article that would be of interest to other members, please send it to Wayne and if we can reproduce it with permission this is a great way of circulating interesting reading. The same goes for stories about a restoration or particular piece of work you are doing/having done to your car, if it can help or assist other members, please consider doing a write up with some pictures for the newsletter.
We also welcome your ideas around club runs or activities, is there someplace that you have been or always wanted to go – why not suggest it for a club run or even better offer to organise a club (or midweek run). It’s a win win, you get to go to somewhere you wanted together with your club colleagues and the car gets a drive as well.
Coming up we will be celebrating 10 years almost to the day to the official signing or the official documents that allow us to enjoy Bill Allsep House – please come along and be a part of this anniversary and also learn something of the history of our clubrooms and also of the benefactors that made it possible.
Finally, I invite you to attend my favourite car show, The AOMC British and European Motoring show at the beautiful Yarra Glen Racecourse will be held on February 16th and this will be our official club run. This show has an amazing variety of vehicles from all of the European manufactures we know and love, From Amilcar to Zephyr there will be something for everyone.
These are just two activities for the next months – make sure you check out our events diary and make our diary your diary, and if nothing else it’s a great excuse to take your club car for a run.
Drive Safe
Kindly,
Keith Mortimer
