President’s Report - July 2024

I am writing my President’s Report on June 22, the shortest day of the year and in the middle of a cold snap. However, looking back over the month I can see that our appetite for all things automotive remains as burning and passionate as ever!

This June we navigated a number of events that showcased our motor cars, kept our engines purring and demonstrated the fellowship and spirit that defines our club. I was especially pleased with our June General Meeting dedicated to our Lady Members and our Partners. It was good to see over 40 members, partners and guests present on a wintery evening to enjoy two of our more recently joined Lady Members share their enthusiasm and passion for their club cars and the joy of club membership. Special thanks to Fanny Lie who brought her wonderful 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III James Young Touring Limousine and Catheryn Collett and her spectacular award winning 2004 Bentley Continental GT.

Our June run trialled a new format starting early in the morning on a Saturday. Kicking off at the Beach Café, Seaford at 8.00 am on a crisp clear morning we enjoyed a most pleasant run down the Nepean Highway and Esplanade to Martha’s Cove and then back to Rob Brewer’s Carwood workshop in Moorabbin where Rob demonstrated his considerable skills in car woodwork restoration. We had a lot of positive feedback from this run and plan to arrange similar runs into the future.

Coming up in July, we have the ever-popular Technical Section Sunday morning workshop on July 7 and not to be missed, our monthly General Meeting on Saturday July 13th at the American Hotel, Creswick with emeritus club member Tom Clarke as our speaker. Our club run in July is a mid-week run on Thursday 25th July to Scotchman’s Hill Winery for a two course lunch accompanied by a wine tasting led by their multi award winning head wine maker. Robin Brockett. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy and lovely run down the Bellarine Peninsula and a memorable wine and food experience at club supporter Scotchman’s Hill Winery.

Details for all of these events are included in the newsletter and on our club website and do remember that you can always contact our Membership Services Secretary, Stephen Peoples, who will be more than happy to assist you with details for meetings and events.
