Vice President’s Report - August 2026

It’s August and more than two months into another Victorian winter. Whilst we are good at keeping warm, what about your cherished Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars? The only way to keep our cars warm is to run them! Hibernation does no-one, or anything for that matter, any good whatsoever. The very best of British motor cars relish the cold weather, so please, fire up those masterly engineered engines and join your fellow members on a Club activity.

This month, the General Meeting at our Clubhouse is on Thursday 13 August with Simon Roberts presenting on the new Spirit of Tasmania IV. Simon’s presentation builds on the previous four general meetings each featuring a Member who presented on their professional careers and interests. The Club welcomes any Member who’d like to present at a general meeting.

Looking back, our July general meeting featured a presentation by Gareth Bryant, son Lucas, and daughter Alana, on the rapidly evolving automotive retail sector. You’ll find the write-up in this edition. An interesting discussion which prompted many questions from the floor.

On Friday 28 through to Sunday 30 August, we are off to Gippsland for our Annual Regional Visit centring on Traralgon and Maffra. All the details are in this Newsletter. There is flexibility in the schedule should you only be able to join us for a day trip across the three day visit, so please do come along to enjoy one of the motor museum visits on the Friday or Saturday, or to the Light Horse & Field Artillery Museum on Sunday should your schedule allow. This regional visit is an opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship and superlative engineering of our special motor cars.
