President’s Report - October 2024
Greetings one and all and welcome to my first President’s report.
Firstly, I want to extend thanks to our immediate past President Dr Howard Wraight, Howard has done an amazing job leading the club for the last 3 years and every one of us that has worked with him on Committee over this time have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are very proud to call Howard a great friend. I also wish to extend thanks to all the committee and appointees that have worked tirelessly on your behalf over the last year to sustain this wonderful club that we enjoy, it is fabulous for us as a club, that these committed members are also willing to continue in service to keep delivering outcomes that all of us as members appreciate.
I would like to give you a little insight into what I see as my priorities in leading the club for the next years. I want to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and inviting and that enables people to contribute to their club.
At present, we have much work being done by few people, and to be sustainable, we need to broaden this base. To this end, I am looking to build subgroups to support
Our Editor and Social Media presence
Our Social engagement, runs functions
Our technical and self-help groups
Our partners and the next generation members Stay tuned you will hear more about this over the next months but please reach out if you believe that you have something to offer in any of these areas or any others. We have some exciting things coming up:
Our October Meeting encompasses our famous (or infamous) Trivia night with our own PMC guru Russell Rolls scrambling your minds with all things Rolls-Royce, Bentley and General Knowledge from topics to tantalise, from yours truly. Please bring along your partners, family or any other you wish to co-opt that may give you that competitive edge for your table to be crowned “Trivia Masters”.
Our October run will be held on Sunday 13th will be a Mystery Picnic. BYO Tables Chairs and all your Picnic goodies for an enjoyable day out. There will be a prize for best Picnic setup. • Our concours will be held in November and this is a great opportunity for every member to bring out your cars and a picnic and enjoy the fabulous environment of Cruden Farm, the camaraderie of our members and the company of the Aston Martin Club.
The club has signed up for a prime display at Motors and Masterpieces, this is a premier event in Melbourne, at the Royal Melbourne showgrounds. We intend to display the best examples of our cars spanning the timeline of our great marque. We have a prime spot undercover and this is a great opportunity to showcase our club to the motoring community as well as new and perspective members.
I will sign off now and go on to creating some exciting new events for all of us - focusing on driving our cars and promoting our marque and building our relationships. If you have any questions, suggestions or are willing to assist please just give me a call.
Kindly,
Keith Mortimer
