President’s Report - October 2022
The sun shone brightly in a lovely blue sky with just a few puffy white clouds, a perfect Melbourne Spring day. Yes, this was Monday September 19, the day after our Concours Display Day at Xavier College. However, despite inclement weather on the day, we were very pleased to see such a large number of club members and cars come out for what turned out to be a very enjoyable day.
Cars spread out around the spectacular Xavier College Chapel and lined up perfectly in the well paved parking areas above the playing fields in a rather lovely display. Plenty of shelter in the marquee and comforting hot drinks and cakes from the quaint Citroen Coffee Van. Members mingled amongst the cars engaged in conversation. All-inall a great day!
My thanks go to the committee, our parking marshals, our club sponsors, the Xavier College grounds staff and above all to each and every member who attended. Congratulations also to all our Concours entrants and winners and to the Chief Judge, Neil Matthews and his team of concours judges.
This month we have a great line up of events and activities to suit everyone. Our general meeting is dedicated to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 20 hp model, a lovely Sunday run to Steels Gate winery in the Yarra Valley and a rally in Tasmania.
At our AGM we elected the committee for the next year. A few changes are noted: Stephen Peoples decided not to nominate as a committee member for 2022-23 and his role as Club Membership Secretary passes to David Ord. His vacant position on the committee will be filled as soon as possible.
I would like to congratulate Stephen for the significant contribution he has made over the years as a Committee member and as club Membership Secretary. I am sure I speak for all members in passing on our gratitude to Stephen. Be reassured, Stephen is continuing as Club Permit Registrar responsible for club permit application and renewals. Thank-you Stephen!
Did anyone have a guess at the answer to the question in the last President’s report? How many electric motors are there in a Silver Spirit? The answer is 27!
