I was recently discussing with a friend, who I used to Rally with, we were discussing the types of cars that people currently collect, this seems to be typically an age based phenomenon and what we
thought were “cool” cars when we were typically in the 20-30 age group, unfortunately most of us were not in a position to afford these at the time…

As some of you may know, my Bentley S1 is currently undergoing restoration including a back to bare metal repaint. The body shop is doing a terrific job and I am keenly awaiting to see the final result.

As I contemplate this month’s president’s report and think back over our April events, I am reminded of the dangers of making predictions about the future.

December already! With the passing of another year our cars are becoming just that little bit more classic and we their custodians just that little bit more distinguished by our advancing years!

The end of the year is fast approaching, however with the current weather pattern it still feels like mid-year, by the time we print this Newsletter it will be less than 4 weeks until year end…

The Spring weather has finally arrived, but the alternating rain and fine weather is a chance to take your PMC to an event or just a personal time away from your daily drive.

This month we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 20 HP model. At our monthly general meeting on Thursday 6th (the actual day 100 years ago that the 20 HP model was announced by the Rolls- Royce Company) we held a 100th celebration event.

The sun shone brightly in a lovely blue sky with just a few puffy white clouds, a perfect Melbourne Spring day. Yes, this was Monday September 19, the day after our Concours Display Day at Xavier College.

We often discuss the merits of modern cars but looking back 100 years the advent of the 20Hp marked a significant era in the Rolls-Royce motorcar history.

Spring has come, hard to believe with recent weather! It is time to polish the PMC check it over and start enjoying the events that the committee has organised for you.

September brings us to our AGM and I am pleased to report that the Victorian Branch of the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club of Australia reaches this annual milestone as a vibrant organisation. Club membership has continued to grow over the past 12 months adding 8 new members, bringing our total membership to 285.

We have released our new website and trust you all have had an opportunity to review the site. If you find that is still loads with the old site please clear your cache or follow the prompts provided when you try to enter Members Login.

I am sure by now that you will have noted the August club newsletter is in an abbreviated broadsheet format. We have signalled this change for some time now and as of this month we have implemented the transition to bi-monthly newsletters.
